Marketing ideas for personal trainers that actually get clients.
By Jason Odell, founder of RiseForIt
The marketing that gets personal trainers clients is simple: pick one client you can win, post content that teaches them one fix at a time, cut one long video into many short ones, give a free tool with each, and follow up fast. Track only the numbers that change what you do next week.
Ten ideas, in the order to do them
- Name your finish line: the number you're building to. Work back to this week.
- Write one sentence: who you help and why you. Put it on your profile.
- Find the belief you hold that no trainer near you says. Test a few versions.
- Make your first three videos: who you are, how you think, what you love to make.
- Film one long video a week and cut it into about ten Shorts.
- Write the title and thumbnail before the script.
- Open every video with who it's for and why you, in the first ten seconds.
- Give a free tool with each video, and a comment word to get it.
- Answer every lead the same day.
- Each week, grade your posts against your own average and change one to three things.
A one-page marketing plan
Who: one client. What: one fix per video. Where: one platform. How often: a routine you could keep in your worst month. The ask: a free tool, then a call. The scoreboard: leads, calls, clients, by video.
Common questions
What's the best platform for personal trainers?
The one you'll actually post on. Rule one first. YouTube with Shorts lasts longest, because the videos keep getting found.
How often should a personal trainer post?
As often as you could keep up in your worst month. Then raise it on purpose.
